Fundraising for Beth's Wheelchair Fund

We fundraising for a new Etac Balder F280 wheelchair for Beth Hawkins a 26 year old woman living in Twyford, Berkshire. Beth is married to Robin and is the sister of Sam and Adam Hawkins. She currently has a Etac Balder F280 wheelchair that is in use on a daily basis to support her daily living needs. It is now in need of replacement, at a cost of up to £20,000. Beth has Spinal Muscular Atrophy, which affects skeletal muscles and means that she is required to use an electric wheelchair to move around. In particular, She needs to use the wheelchair to go to work and to participate in a full and varied social life. Beth hopes to start a family in the near future with Robin and would like to be able to enjoy motherhood to the full, and a replacement wheelchair is required in order for her to do this. Beth's current wheelchair has lasted for 5 years so far but it is wearing out. It is often in need of repair and it is likely that a significant repair in the near future will be uneconomical to carry out. This wheelchair was purchased and maintained by a charity until recently, but Beth is now ineligible for support from many wheelchair charities as they cater for children and adults below the age of 26.
