We are a team of 9 from the Castlefield Hotel & Y Club, Manchester YMCA. We will be taking part in the Three Peaks Challenge at the end of May to raise funds for a project working with young carers in Salford.
Fundraising pageYoung Carers and Young Adult Carers often fall through the gap between Children’s and Adult Services. The Salford Carers Centre works with almost 400 Young Carers and Young Adult Carers each year. It is however believed that there are possibly over 3,500 young people that are carrying out caring tasks and are therefore at risk. The Manchester YMCA wants to create opportunities for young carers in Salford to achieve positive outcomes in their education, physical and mental health, socialisation and careers. This will be through a programme that both addresses issues with confidence and self esteem and builds social skills for employment.
The National Three Peaks Challenge takes in the highest mountains in Scotland, England and Wales, often in 24 hours.
