The idea came out of our Church homegroup where one of the guys had heard the Citizen's Advice Bureau in Thame were inundated with requests for help. I went to see the Manager who detailed some of the biggest needs in the area. One of those he spoke about is a group called Safari organised by a lady called Michelle Diffey. She organises events for adults with special needs and their carers. Once out of the education system, there is little help for these guys and so the group has become a very important part of their lives. Safari is run by volunteers and is dependent on charitable giving - it's tough & they exist month to month. A couple of us went to one of their events last week and it was a lot of fun. Special atmosphere and a room full of characters. They're hoping to organise a weekend trip to France through the town twinning arrangement to meet a similar group in France in September but are short on funds so the money we raise will go to paying for that trip.
