September brings a challenge, one that i have wanted to do and thought about for sometime. However, i needed a focus and a reason in order to push myself and my mind. I lost my brother last May, a loss I will never get over, every time I think about him I get upset, I cry but I also smile. After a random conversation with one of my closest and longest friends Rachael, who has started getting fit and walking for her own reasons we decided to do The Yorkshire 3 Peaks in September. We walk together, we walk on our own and we walk with our other close friends. Now I won’t go into the benefits of walking, we all know what it does to our bodies (both physically and mentally) all good of course but these walks are going to get us 3 peaks ready and more. I have decided to raise money for Aachen Hall, a place Christopher used to love going before his health declined. Aachen Hall is a community support service for people with learning and physical disabilities, Christopher made many friends here and got involved in as many activities as possible. They loved him, the staff and the service users, he just never knew how much he was loved. So after talking to Rachael about this, Rachael has also decided to raise money for Aachen Hall as well, I made sure this is what she wanted and not another charity she feels strongly about but nope, she was adamant! This not only made me smile but my mum and dad as well. So we have decided to do a joint funding page, we will continue to share this message and hopefully we can raise some lovely pennies for Aachen Hall. Lots of tears this morning for us both but we are heading in the right direction with this.
