In early 2021 my nephew, who at the time was 21, was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma. Hodgkin's lymphoma is a type of cancer that affects the lymphatic system, which is part of the body's germ-fighting immune system. In Hodgkin's lymphoma, white blood cells called lymphocytes grow out of control, causing swollen lymph nodes and growths throughout the body. He underwent chemotherapy over a period of 6 months and earlier this year was cleared of all cancer and is now back to leading a normal life. If it wasn't for the treatment that he received so quickly, who knows where he would be now or if even, he would still be with us. His whole attitude throughout was a positive one and not once did he want to give up and beat this cruel disease. Myself and his family will be eternally grateful for what cancer research has meant for his health and wellbeing.
