T2 Top Down

We are a group of health professionals working within the Hull University Teaching Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. We are completing this challenge to raise funds to purchase an inflatable MRI scanner.

Fundraising for Go Fund me!

An MRI scan can be a daunting and scary experience for a child when checking for illness or injury. MRI uses a strong magnetic field to produce detailed images of inside the body. A child may be required to lie still for up to an hour inside a large tube and exposed to loud banging noises, while the scan is performed. Children can be frightened of the scan and in some cases a general anaesthetic is required. This has its own risks and our aim is to reduce the amount of children requiring anaesthesia for MRI scans. We would like to raise funds to purchase an inflatable MRI scanner. This would allow us prepare a child for the real thing. Prior to the scan the child will be able to lie in the inflatable scanner and see what it feels like. They will also be exposed to noise that they can expect to hear. We strongly feel that this will help reduce anxiety, manage expectations and increase examination cooperation. Many hospitals around the UK, have already seen the benefit of improved patient experience, after purchasing an inflatable MRI scanner. To raise funds a team of us will be completing the Yorkshire 3 Peaks challenge on the 20th of April 2024. Please sponsor us and help us to achieve our goal! Thank you :)
