Fundraising for Williams Syndrome Foundation

We have a special connection to the Williams Foundation, through an amazing little boy that we have the pleasure of knowing. Cameron is 7 years old and was diagnosed with Williams Syndrome when he was 2 months old, after spending time in the neonatal unit. Cameron’s journey has not been easy, he has had several major operations and when he was 7 months old he was left fighting for his life. Cameron is such an inspiration to us all he is such a little fighter and never gives up, his smile is a joy for all to see and he brings so much happiness to everyone that he meets. Williams Syndrome is a rare genetic disorder that affects 1 in every 18,000 people in the UK. To put that into context only 1 GP in every 30 will ever see someone with Williams Syndrome. Williams Syndrome causes cardiac, physical and mental health problems. In addition, it usually causes learning disabilities which include sensory, behavioural, social and processing issues. There are an estimated 3,500 people with Williams Syndrome (WS) in the UK. The Williams Syndrome Foundation provide support for those with WS and their families. They actively try to raise awareness of the syndrome. They provide opportunities for members and their families to attend days out together, provide support to members through various channels, whilst also funding research into Williams Syndrome to help create guidelines and publications.
