Siggers Squad

This was a family adventure including Mum (Rachael), Dad (Andrew), Sophie (age 11) and George (age 8). This was a self-supported challenge. While we do love the mountains, with busy lives we only manage to go walking a few times a year. We'd had the 3 Peaks Challenge in mind for a couple of years and went for it at short notice due to the fantastic weather forecast. Therefore we hadn't time to do specific training to build up to this challenge - we are grateful that Sophie & George had sufficient fitness to storm up each mountain (completing the 3 peaks in a strong cumlative time of 12 hours and 6 minutes) thanks to doing so much gymnastics training (16 - 19 hours a week each). No stranger to ultra running, Andrew set himself the rather outrageous challenge of starting this 3 Peaks adventure only 5.5 hours after having raced the Edinburgh Marathon in 2:36:56, coming 13th overall (out of around 16 000 runners)! Rachael is a keen runner and has also done the Lakeland 50 and an Iron distance triathlon in recent years.
