Castlefield - La Renaissance

We wanted a challenge to provide a focal point for our company Castlefield's fundraising activities in 2015. We are part-owned by the Burdens Charitable Foundation who were instrumental in founding La Renaissance, a primary school in Burkina Faso, which now needs further funding to achieve its aims. We hit upon the 3 Peaks as a substantial challenge for participants and one which all colleagues can support. We've decided to take the Challenge over 3 days in order to enjoy the scenery and contribute to the local communities while we do it. We're looking forward to hearty pub dinners! Our experience ranges from frequent walkers to relative novices but we're all looking forward to experiencing the best that Britain's mountains have to offer. Any support you might be able to offer would be greatly appreciated.

Fundraising for Burdens Charitable Foundation

On the weekend of 21st to 23rd of August 2015, an intrepid team of walkers from Castlefield, GAEIA and Barchester Green will be attempting The National Three Peaks Challenge. We are asking for your financial support for our efforts as we are raising money to support La Renaissance via Burdens Charitable Foundation (registered charity number 273535). La Renaissance is an independent primary school based in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, a country of 16m people where over 80% of the population have an agricultural or subsistence living. La Renaissance opened in 2004 and caters for visually impaired, disabled and orphaned children who would otherwise be unable to access formal education. Pupil numbers have risen to around 350 and more than 2,500 pupils have gone through the school in the last ten years. Costs are rising as numbers grow and there is increasing demand to build and run a secondary school. Without ongoing funding, the future of the primary school is at risk and plans to move on to secondary education will have to be shelved or abandoned. Burdens Charitable Foundation helped found La Renaissance and now want to develop it further to ensure even better futures for the children who go there.
