Fundraising for Cancer Research UK.

A bit of office banter about fitness in July led to the gauntlet being thrown down by Paul, the oldest and least athletic member of the team. We thought of different challenges and a worthwhile cause to support. The cause was straightforward as cancer doesn't care about age, race, gender, religion or physical condition. Next came the challenge, the London marathon is out because it involves running, The National Three Peaks is out because it involves more driving than walking and we want to rush a day in the fells about as much as we want to disturb local residents and not spend any money in the local economy. The only real possibility left for us was the Yorkshire 3 Peaks as it is a true feat of endurance, navigation and organisation which involves a full day walking with the ability to enjoy the local area and support the local economy by staying on a local campsite and using the local cafe and pubs. Three of us have never been camping or walking before which will present a challenge of its own. The walk itself is a 25 mile circular walk, commencing at the Pen-y-Ghent cafe taking in the peaks of Pen-y-Ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough with a long walk from Ingleborough back to the Pen-y Ghent cafe to complete the walk and register our time. It sounds easy if you say it quickly but this is a very challenging walk which we need to complete within 12 hours in order for our time to be registered. We have 4 weeks to train, learn the route, brush up on our navigation skills and learn how to put up a decent camp, we will post some photos along the way to keep you amused and of course some stills and video from the day itself. Thank you once again from all of us for taking the time to read this, we are grateful for any support you can give, be it a donation, by sharing our page through social media or by spurring us on with some friendly words of encouragement.
