Naitbabies 3 Peaks Challenge

The group of climbers is made up of parents affected by the condition Neonatal Alloimmune thrombocytopenia and their friends. Some of the climbers are travelling from as far as Cornwall. And our age range from 20's to 60 We have been training hard and had a day at Snowdon. So determined are the group that one even climbed with a broken arm. They have seen the devastation NaIt causes. And by doing the 3 peaks and raising much needed funds we can continue to support families affected and campaign to have screening in pregnancy made routine.

Fundraising for Naitbabies.org

www.naitbabies.org is a non-profit organisation that has been created to raise awareness of a genetic disorder most people have never heard of, neonatal alloimmune thrombocytopenia or NAIT. (Also known as FNAIT - fetal and neonatal alloimmune thrombocytopenia, FMAIT - feto-maternal alloimmune thrombocytopenia, NATP or AIT). It is a blood related disease that can affect fetuses or newborn babies. The mother makes antibodies against the babies platelet antigen which in turn destroys the platelets, putting the baby at risk of bleeding into the brain (ICH), stomach or spinal cord.Babies can be at serious risk of brain damage or death. The climb will raise much needed funds to help naitbabies continue to support families affected by Nait. Naitbabies is run by a small band of dedicated volunteers who work tirelessly reaching out to familes from all over the world. The majority of the climbers have experienced the devastation of nait first hand and niatbabies has brought them all together.
