Sully up…….Sully down

About the group

We are a group of Metropolitan Police Officers and on the 1st July 2014 we completed the National Three Peaks Challenge, we are not mountaineers and for some of us a treadmill on an incline at the gym is the closest we got to a long walk/run going up. We opted to complete the mammoth challenge the unconventional way - normally the challenge starts at Ben Nevis but we started at Snowdonia and climbed Ben Nevis at night. Our driver was Martin Sullivan and he done a great job of getting us to each mountain though his challenge was to avoid the sharp bends, hump back bridges and deer though he did join us for the final climb of Ben Nevis.
We completed Snowdonia in 3 hours 7 minutes and travelled up to Scaffel Pike and it took 4 hours 20 minutes on this climb. The long drive to Scotland then began and we arrived in the very early hours of the morning, we donned our head torches and prepared for the challenge ahead. I won't deny the fact that Ben Nevis was tough going but we worked well as team and gave each other the support to carry on. We finally completed after 6 hours 30 minutes.
We decided to raise money for Cancer Research UK, we passed our target of £1000 and raised £1570.00 and this total is still rising. We all know somebody who has been affected by cancer or even lost a loved one as a result so this was our way of showing support to an amazing charity and to remember those who are no longer with us.

Challenge registration number: 51860

This challenge took place on Tuesday, 1 July, 2014.

Time completed: 23 hours 36 minutes.
