By completing the three peaks challenge we are loking to raise money for the Joseph's Dream charity
This charity has been set up to fund an operation for 4 year old Joseph Skidmore. Joseph needs an operation called Selective dorsal rhizotomy (SDR) which is a surgical technique developed to reduce spasticity and improve mobility in patients with cerebral palsy and lower extremity spasticity. It involves the selective division of sensory rootlets in the lumbosacral spine, maintaining a balance between elimination of spasticity and preservation of function.
Because of Joseph's current level of mobility, and his determination to be independent, the surgeon believes that Joseph will be an independent walker within 2 years of having SDR.
