3 Peaks for Alice

With an age range from 29 to 61 we are a group where youth and fitness has to be tempered by the wisdom of experience - in other words don't rush off at the start when you've still got 23 miles and almost 10,000 ft of climb ahead of you. I'll do my best to restrain them. We're coming together for the challenge from Devon and Hampshire, not famed for their mountains. At least Devon has the SW Coast Path and Dartmoor for training through lots of ups and downs! Hampshire is about as flat as you can get. Will we do it. Of course we will!!

Fundraising for Age Concern Teignmouth & Shaldon. Charity no. 800996

Age Concern Teignmouth & Shaldon is a charity that promotes opportunities for the over 50s in Teignbridge. It runs the Alice Cross Community Centre which is a social hub for older people in Teignmouth. It is predominantly a place to meet & make friends. There is a daily lunch club which serves freshly cooked subsidised, meals, a coffee & drinks area, a pop up multipurpose educational suite, and a therapy & counselling room. In 1974 Alice Cross was presented with the British Empire Medal for her unstinting work in bringing this Community Centre to fruition. Modestly she said that her greatest reward was knowing that no one in Teignmouth area need be lonely, as there was always a welcome and a helping hand at the Centre. That aethos persists today but in a time of financial constraints the Centre is constantly challenged in meeting this vision.
