Fundraising for Osprey Migration Foundation

Early in 2011 a group of staff and volunteers from the Rutland Osprey Project travelled to Gambia and Senegal in search of European Ospreys in their wintering grounds. After visiting local schools to talk about Ospreys and migration, it became apparent that there was an opportunity to develop a wildlife education programme for Gambian schools. The Osprey Migration Foundation will provide funds for educational materials for schools in areas near to locations of Ospreys and other migrant birds and create links between these schools and those in the UK. Our 3 Peaks Challenge will incorporate a series of talks at other sites of British Osprey populations in Scotland, Wales and the Lake District to raise awareness of the cause and, of course, to raise funds. We will be travelling in a minibus kindly donated to us for our event by Tim Norton Ford of Oakham.
