Being from County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service, we have a trading arm of Vital Fire Solutions Ltd. We secured to deliver what we call a 13 week recruits course for Dounreay Fire Ambulance and Rescue Service. They sent 5 recruits to us and one of our own apprentices joined the course. The recruits wanted to do an event of some sort for our Fire Fighters Charity and opted for the Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge. Not being from the area at all. but being so motivated and challenged.... they then decided to complete the challenge in Full Fire Kit, carrying the equivalent weight of a Breathing Apparatus and ancillary equipment of 17.6KG. Our 2 instructors who have delivered the course went along with them for the challenge.
