Superior Hikers

A group of friends and colleagues from Superior Healthcare wanting to push ourselves to a challenge. Having trained together for the last 10 weeks we are feeling ready to complete the Three Peaks. We are raising money for Headway -The Brain Injury Association, a charity very close to Superior Healthcare's Heart. After this difficult year, we all felt we needed a challenge and what better way than to motivate and support each other all the way to the top. "Believe in yourself, take on your challenges, dig deep within yourself to conquer fears. Never let anyone bring you down. You got to keep going"

Fundraising for Headway - The Brain Injury Association

Brain injury can challenge every aspect of your life – walking, talking, thinking and feeling – and the losses can be severe and permanent. It can mean losing both the life you once lived and the person you once were. We all think 'it will never happen to me', but every year around 350,000 people are admitted to hospital with an acquired brain injury. That's one every 90 seconds. A brain injury can happen to anyone, at any time. When it does, Headway is here to help. Superior Healthcare was founded in 2006 by Stewart Thorp, his father Charles and Sarah Richards in response to their experience of caring for Stewart’s sister and Charles’ daughter, Katie, who has an acquired brain injury. Katie's Story: Katie was knocked from her bicycle whilst cycling on a country lane in 2001, by a motorist who had been using his mobile phone at the time of impact. Although sustaining only minor physical injuries, Katie suffered what proved to be a catastrophic blow to her head. In ensuing years, her family worked alongside a team of healthcare professionals as well as solicitors and case managers to support Katie’s continued rehabilitation including her return to education and participation at Headway.
