Stomp out Stigma.
About the group
Recently Megan lost her father and during his life he suffered from really bad mental health issues. Megan then decided that with it being an issue extremely close to her heart and as-well as studying to becoming a mental health nurse, that she wanted to raise money for charities already in process in helping those who suffer from ill mental health. Mind was chosen for this charity event.
Megan reached out to her closes friends, and asked them to join her on the three peaks challenge to raise money for a charity that tried to help her father during his worst days and helped her, trying to help her father.
Upon reaching out, it came to light that Andy had looked after Megan's dad within the last few months of his life meaning he would like to get involved in some way -attempting to carry out the walk with the rest of the group. It also became apparent that mental health has been suffered by a few off the group, Megan was diagnosed with clinical depression, Leigh has suffered from anxiety/ depression from the age of 13, alongside battling with a eating disorder at the age of 12. After loosing her mother, Charlotte's mental health got quite bad and she suffered with depression, social anxiety and an eating disorder from the age of 13- one of the reasons she's also studying to be a mental health nurse.
Every year, one in four of us will experience a mental health problem but hundreds of thousands of people are still struggling. As a group of individuals who are mostly working towards becoming nurses, some mental health nurses we believe no-one should have to face a mental health problem alone.
As a group, we are going to challenge ourselves to walk these three peaks within a day, to raise as much money as possible to help those who need help understanding their condition and the choices available to them.
