Fundraising for Leo’s

On the 25th November 2018, my wife Kerry gave birth via emergency c-section, to our daughters Isobel Lainey, weighing 5.3lbs and Freya Emily, weighing 4.11lbs. They decided they wanted to make an early appearance at 33 and 6 weeks and required lifesaving treatment at the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) in Durham Hospital. In the early days the girls were cared for in separate incubator as they were too poorly. As they improved they were moved to separate cots. The only time they were together was when we placed them together and they seemed to love this. We experienced ourselves and saw everyday the fantastic care, treatment and support given to premature and sick newborn babies and their families. Durham NICU currently have no twin cots and a lot of multiple babies being cared for on the unit. So between Kerry, myself and our family and friends we are going to start raising money through Leo’s charity to buy them a twin cot (and potentially more). As we felt our girls missed out on bonding due to being separated for 3 weeks. With the support of family, friends and the wider community, our aim is to complete a variety of different fundraising events starting with the Yorkshire 3 peaks to try and raise our extremely challenging target of £3000. Which is the cost of just one cot, we plan to raise this money by the girls 1st Birthdays.
