Fundraising for RAF Benevolent Fund / Heartlink

For those of you that know me, I've never been one to be morbid, and dwell on what could have been. Since losing my father, a former RAF Chief Technician, in 2012, I have undertaken various challenges for the RAF Benevolent Fund in his memory, including climbing the O2 Arena, skydiving for the RAF Centenary and walking the Great Wall of China, to name but a few. This year, in memory of both my Father and Grandson, I have decided to Trek the Himalayas! On the 26th October 2019, I shall be flying out to India and trekking the Dalai Lama route through the mountains, eventually reaching the Taj Mahal on 5th November 2019. In addition to the RAFBF, I have also decided to raise money in support of Heart Link, the charity that supported my grandson Dominic, who was suddenly taken from us on 15th October 2018. Dominic was born with part of his heart missing. Despite this, he was always a smiling, happy baby, celebrating his 1st birthday on 13th October 2018. Unfortunately, Dominic developed a chest infection prior to his second major heart operation to fix a leaking valve. Therefore, the operation had to be postponed until he was well enough to undergo surgery. Tragically, on the morning of the 15th October, Dominic suffered a fatal heart attack, and passed away in my daughter's arms. As a family, we feel very blessed to have had Dominic enriching our lives, if only for a short time.
