BHR’s Sneaky Peakers
About the group
We are a team of 14 from Burgess Hill runners running club, who fancy pushing ourselves to a new level in order to raise as much money for A.M.E.N.D. as possible while having an amazing time together.
The charity we are going to attempt to raise as much money for is A.M.E.N.D. This charity has been chosen because they have and still are helping out the family of a member of the team (Jack Maynard), it affects Jack’s dads side of the family. They have a genetic condition called M.E.N.1 (Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia type 1).
M.E.N.1 forms tumours which can either be benign or cancerous. Unfortunately for Jack’s uncle’s his tumours were cancerous and as a result of this he passed away in 2013 at the age of 43. His daughter is under going regularly treatment and check ups.
Luckily Jack and his sister don’t have the M.E.N.1 gene.
