Oscroft Ospreys

A group of four girls who are good friends and passionate about supporting local charities. In 2017 we arranged a fundraising ball and cycled the Wild Atlantic Way in Ireland, with a group of other lovely folk from the NeuroMuscular Centre (NMC), to support this amazing charity in Winsford, Cheshire. This year we organised a fabulous fundraising ball in March and raised over £11,000. We're hoping to reach our target of £15,000 by walking the Three Yorkshire Peaks!

Fundraising for The NeuroMuscular Centre, Winsford, Cheshire

The award-winning NMC provides a range of unique services and specialist advice with the sole aim of improving the quality of life for adults with Muscular Dystrophy and other neuromuscular conditions. The charity was founded in 1990. There's no other centre like the NeuroMuscular Centre (NMC) in the UK or Europe! The NMC is all about enabling people to have options to have more fulfilling and productive lives. At the heart of the NMC is a vibrant and commercially successful Social Enterprise. NeuroMuscular Centre Design+Print employs 15 people, 12 of whom have Muscular Dystrophy. The team aim to generate a surplus to re-invest in the work of NeuroMuscular Centre (NMC) helping others with the condition. The NeuroMuscular Centre (NMC) physiotherapy service provides ongoing treatment for adults and young people with Muscular Dystrophy where the NHS does not. Physio is crucial in maintaining muscle strength and tone for longer and helping in pain management. Physio is the key to maintaining better quality of life for our the registered patients. The Centre is largely run by people with Muscular Dystrophy, so it is very well tuned into to what people with neuromuscular conditions want. NMC has an infectiously warm, welcoming and positive culture with an emphasis on what you can do and not on what you can't do. Popular training courses support this ethos - working to provide opportunities and options for people with Muscular Dystrophy who sometimes find it hard to see a positive future.
