Fundraising pageBen has chosen Dementia UK as his Nana, is affected by the disease everyday, she still has an excellent long term memory however her short term memory has been affected and continues to slowly decline. She has had to move into a care home and out of the home she loved, so she could receive the right level of care. As those who have had family members suffer with dementia will know, it is not just the impact of dementia on the individual, but also the impact that it has on the family, who can only continue to love and care for their family member as the illness continues to take hold. There are millions affected by this in the UK alone, all of whom require a level of care and families that need support. The money raised will go towards caring for those afflicted and supporting those families in need. Will has chosen The Clatterbridge Cancer Charity as his girlfriend's Gran, Gill, was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2017. After receiving treatment, Gill beat it. Unfortunately, in 2018 it was discovered that although the lung cancer was clear, it had in-fact spread to her brain. Gill was diagnosed with a secondary brain met, and as a result has been given a terminal diagnosis. The care that Clatterbridge Cancer Centre have provided and continue to provide to Gill, through both diagnoses' and to thousands of other people, has been inspirational. As has the fight and grit Gill has shown throughout. As anyone who knows someone who has battled cancer or is battling themselves will know, cancer doesn't discriminate, and statistically 1 in 2 people in the UK will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime.
