Peaky Plodders

We are a group of 7 local police officers who understand the life changing effects that diabetes have on families. We understand the importance of early detection devices which are costly and many of which are not available on the NHS. Diabetes affects both children and adults and is a condition in which many do not understand. In our group it has a personal effect on two of us, one has a young son who suffers with type one diabetes and another has a father who also has type one. Children in particular have an everyday struggle managing and maintaining their blood sugars and the impact this has on family life is significant. Also as officers we see the impact that this condition has on teenagers who struggle with the concept of the condition and normal life. We also see the impact that this condition has on adults who often feel trapped and isolated with the condition due to debilitating effects of the condition due to lack of awareness and support during their childhood. Your donation will help buy new life saving equipment, holidays for children and families as well fund activities and support groups.
