Fundraising for The Panacea Project Foundation

Thank you for your interest in The Panacea Project®, a vision of our founder, Kelly Brearley with the joint wisdom, experience and enormous effort by all the dedicated people who contribute in getting our services in those hard to reach and often high risk environments. Sadly, these tend to be in vulnerable, underserved communities and more often than not, contain a high percentage of people who have endured abuse and trauma on some level without the adequate care and support to help them heal. The Panacea Project® is a nonprofit social enterprise dedicated to the vision of a world where we all regain our 'humaness' to care for others regardless of their background, income, race, age, gender or circumstance. We strive to provide a service for mental health where everyone has equal access to our healing modalities. Services such as meditation, mindfulness and yoga therapies for both children and adults who are trauma-survivors or just quite simply, in need and without care. Trauma is an event that overwhelms the body's ability to respond, leaving a person feeling helpless, hopeless or out of control. We believe everyone has the right to adequate care and support. Everyone is worthy of healing. We focus on providing inclusive new solutions in the hardest to reach environments using a mindful trauma-sensitive approach. "With correct trauma-informed and evidence based approaches we can break through old systems that are failing our children and vulnerable adults. I have witnessed our project transform teachers, students, prison residents, children and myself from deep within. With that kind of power, collectively, we can positively change the criminal justice system and society as a whole." Kelly Brearley, Founder of The Panacea Project. 2017 CHARITABLE AIMS As a nonprofit social enterprise we continue to promote our project within the criminal justice system, NHS and the UK's care and education system for children and vulnerable adults who have endured trauma and/or in need of mental health support. These are all areas that are exceedingly stressful, over populated, under served and nonconducive to healing and recovery. More worryingly, this type of environment sustains physical and psychological illness leaving service users trapped in trauma where mental health issues, chronic stress and anxiety thrive building bigger barriers to recovery. Our 3-step area of focus as a preventative, intervention and integration program include:- 1.Provide every young person in care and Pupil Referral Units access to our practitioners and services 2.To provide UK prison residents and staff our mindful trauma-informed therapies 3. To provide support for GPs nationwide via social prescribing within every UK city OTHER AREAS OF WORK We also work with other areas of trauma such as supporting Restorative Justice cases, schools that participate in Restorative Care and 1:1 therapy upon special request. Primarily we provide support and solutions for the 3 main areas mentioned above but are passionate about helping others who work within this demographic too. Many third wave therapies such as mindfulness, meditation and yoga remain unregulated with an awesome range of practices falling under the 'yoga' umbrella. Unfortunately, being a yoga teacher is not enough to work within the populations of the criminal justice or special educational and care systems. It is paramount that all professionals have had additional and specific training for their chosen field. Without the specialist training for this area physical and psychological upset can be caused by teaching and therapies that are not adequately informed. In light of the above, we offer specialist accredited training courses and best practice guides for:- 1) Yoga, mindfulness, meditation teachers and therapists wanting to serve in the criminal justice system 2) HMPPS, YOI, NHS, PRU professionals wanting to improve or establish trauma-informed programs 3) HMPPS, YOI, NHS, PRU professionals wanting to establish Trauma Informed Yoga (TIY) programs 4) Other criminal justice professionals, educational professionals, health care professionals how our interested in how our Trauma Informed Yoga can be helpful to their organisation, work environment or themselves personally 5) Judges, policy makers and others interested in how our therapies might contribute to a better system functioning and outcomes 6) Mental health care providers interested in or program as a complementary healing modality 7) Community workers and those who would like to learn more about how our therapies are a meaningful personal and community resource. If any of the above makes sense to you, please contact us for ways you can help.
