I have been selected to volunteer overseas as a team leader with Restless Development on an International Citizen Service placement in South Africa for three months from 30th June - 30th September 2017. I will be leading a group of volunteers aged 18-25 and we'll be delivering school workshops and community based activities to a group of 10-19 years olds focussing on employability and sexual health. ICS works with communities that have specifically requested their help. It also aims to inspire young people in the UK and overseas to become active citizens who are passionate about long term community development. The first part of my placement is a challenge to raise £800 towards the work of Restless Development and their ICS partners. The money raised will go towards enabling the overall costs of ICS in order to keep the programme running. All my direct costs, such as flights and other expenses are separate.
