Walton Wonders

Our group consists of 5 friends looking to raise money for The Walton Neuroscience Centre by tackling the three peaks (Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike, Snowdon) within one week. The Walton Centre charity was chosen because one of the members of the group, Joseph Ross, was a former patient there, who received excellent care that was fundamental in his recovery back to normal life. Although the original challenge is meant to be done within 24hours, due to Joe's past injury just completing the three peaks itself will still be a major challenge.

Fundraising for The Walton Neuroscience Centre

The fundraising - Our fundraising has utilised the Just Giving platform in order to collect donations easily. We have used social networking sites to keep our family's, friends and donators up to date with our pre peak training and other means of fundraising. We have also used local newspapers to spread the story and to entice further donations. The charity - A major fundraising campaign has been launched to provide relatives’ accommodation and rehabilitation facilities at The Walton Centre NHS Foundation Trust. The Home from Home Appeal aims to raise £1 million over the next two years, to pay for eight, ensuite bedrooms for relatives who want to stay near loved ones undergoing treatment in the hospital. The appeal will also pay for extra facilities for specialised rehabilitation patients, including therapy gardens and gym equipment. The relatives’ accommodation and the new rehab facilities are all part of a new, three storey building planned as part of the Trust’s expansion.
