Six and a half men

My Name is Shane I am a 3rd Dan Tae Kwon-do instructor for the TAGB. Last summer I walked up Snowdon and decided that it would be a great idea to do the three peaks.

I asked my students if they would like to take part in the event but for some reason they did not. I asked Mark a good friend and old student that has a love for the outdoors if he would like to join me. Without Mark getting involved this project would not have got started and it would be me on my own in a pair of trainers and T-shirt (some rainy days on Dartmoor soon got me getting the right gear!).

Why the team name of six and a half men? I hear you ask, although I am a 3rd Dan Tae Kwon-do instructor my height (a very modest 5ft 6”) is often the butt of many a joke (O how we laugh at the short man jokes) so I am the half!

The team

Mark Bond,
Shane Knight,
John Cruickshank
Colin Hooper
Kev Greenhill
Simon Pawsey

The crazy boys Christmas challenge

We are a group of friends who are looking for a great challenge, and in the process raise some serious cash.

We have set ourselves a big task by giving us a month's target but that's the challenge and that's why we're hoping to raise more cash for charity.

Mountain Maites

Elaine Maitland and Lisa Chapple from Bedford decided after a joke about participating in a zumba class for charity (long story - but basically we can't dance!!!) to try something more challenging like the 3 peaks!! We are both strong willed, determined and have a good level of fitness and therefore think we have a good chance of completing the challenge within the 24 hours.

Also part of our team is our all important driver - Brian Gregory who has kindly agreed to help and assures us he will rescue us if we get lost!!! (Hoping with our pre planned navigation this won't happen!)

May the Fourth Be With You

This challenge has been a couple of years in the making, but we've decided to do it and do it in style. Two of us will be 'enjoying' the challenge, ably assisted by our kind driver who will while away the wee hours in the middle of nowhere!

Bath Area Play Project

We are a group of friends that want to make a difference to children’s lives in the Bath Area where we live and work, as well as challenging ourselves with what is a very physically and mentally demanding event. I am a volunteer for the charity myself during my time of work in education and have seen the great impact that it has made to the life’s of some children in the more deprived areas of Bath as well as every child that attends. The play is free and as a charity it’s funded by donations so every penny really does make a difference.

Participants: Patrick Coll, Elspeth Dixon, Richard Potts, Plus Driver (TBC)
