Fundraising for Nottingham University Hospital Charity & DRLAA

We are undertaking this challenge for two charities, one being the Nottingham University Hospitals Charity; Tiny Babies Appeal which is dedicated to helping newborn and premature babies getting the best start in life. Our team member Phil, his daughter Amy was born 15 weeks prematurely, weighing only 1lb 7oz. Phil and Amy’s mum Ruth, both thought their little girl would not survive as she was whisked off to the high dependency unit and hooked up to machines that were keeping her alive at Nottingham City Hospital. During her 4 month stay on the ward, Amy died and was revived several times by the dedicated hospital staff and also had to undergo several operations. Miraculously Amy kept fighting and eventually was allowed to go home to her family 4 months later. The dedicated staff on the Neo-Natal Unit at Nottingham City Hospital does such an amazing job in which Phil and Ruth are endlessly grateful for and why this charity is one the team are fundraising for; to give back for what they did for Amy. Donations are used to help enhance care and facilities for tiny patients and their parents, providing state-of-the-art equipment, carrying out research to improve care for tiny patients and supporting parents and families who have premature or sick newborn babies. The other charity being supported is for the Derbyshire, Leicestershire & Rutland Air Ambulance (DLRAA), which runs as a completely self-funded service, working in close partnership with the NHS service. The DRLAA receives no Government funding, neither via the NHS, relying solely on fundraising and donations which they provide a rapid response to trauma and medical emergencies working as a team with local NHS land ambulances to help save lives. Our own team members Guy and Raf each had an unforeseen accident which the Air Ambulance crew were called upon. This challenge will help give back to the Air Ambulance, where every minute does count. Donations made to our Virgin Money Giving page will be processed and split equally amongst the two charities.
