Hi all, In 2020 Dan, Sam, Jim and myself completed the SDW in under 60 hours, raising an amazing amount of money for a variety of charities, and also for our dear friend Stuart, who had a really, really tough year. As that wasn't quite enough to say 'never again', this July we are back for more as we aim aim to complete the National Three Peaks Challenge in under 24 hours, to raise money for Sussex-based charity, Time to Talk Befriending. Time to Talk Befriending is an outreach project tackling chronic loneliness amongst elderly people. They achieve this by one-to-one, group and, more recently due to the pandemic, phone befriending. These invaluable social interactions make such a huge difference to elderly, vulnerable and lonely people in Sussex. The challenge itself involves climbing three separate mountains, starting in Scotland and finishing in Wales. The mountains are Ben Nevis (1,345m), Scafell Pike (978m), and Snowdon (1,085m), with a total ascent of 3,064m and a total climb distance of 23 miles. All of this is to be done in under 24 hours, including the driving. We aim to start at 7am on the July 24th at Ben Nevis, and finish at 7am on the July 25th at the bottom of Snowdon. Just like on the SDW challenge last year, we will once again have the trusty duo of Gary and Kev as our support team to help with logistics. Any donations will be highly appreciated. Thank you. Lewis, Dan, Sam and Jim.
Fundraising pageTTTB is a Brighton-based charity which aims at tackling loneliness in the elderly population. These individuals live alone mainly, in high rise flats, and at times have thought of themselves as being 'invisible'. This charity matches volunteers with lonely individuals, and provides them with vital social interactions. They also support a variety of different services for the elderly population in the Brighton area.
